The work won third prize in the competition and received its premiere performance by the Lee University Percussion Ensemble in Cleveland, Tennessee on November 2, 2014. It is a work written to feature a percussion duo in front of an ensmelbe and contains several virtuosic yet ensemble-friendly musical ideas and orchestrations.<br /> <br /> This piece is dedicated to many of my friends, colleagues, and mentors who have shown a sense of contagious optimism when dealing with their students as well as their co-workers and family. It is also, as a side dedication, a tribute to Brandon Wood, whom I had met briefly several week before his untimely death.<br /> <br /> The music of Lightbringers is dedicated wholeheartedly to the sense of cooperation and optimism we feel as a community of musicians working together. It is a very light-hearted yet extremely energetic approach to that single, simple emotion of happiness.
