			David J. Long (b. 1950, Scottsdale, Ariz.) is an American composer and percussionist.

			Mr. Long studied music at Arizona State University, and music theory and composition at the University of North Texas.

			Long is a free-lance percussionist for concert and drum set work. Previously he was professor of music and composer-in-residence at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he taught courses in theory, skill development, composition, orchestration, and history of jazz.
