			PARTNERSHIP is a ten minute "tour de force" for two percussionists, one playing five timpani and the other, marimba. Both players are required to perform with virtuoso technique even though the work is basically lyrical, not dramatic, in spite of certain rhythmic interjections that occur from time to time. Contemporary techniques such as dead strokes and mode playing occur on marimba. The timpanist is required to play with both timpani mallets and snare drum sticks and to strike the timpani in the normal playing area as well as near the rim. Dead strokes and tuning changes are also required on timpani. PARTNERSHIP is an excellent work for two college or professional percussionists. It would be perfect for a recital.<br/>
