Unstack/Re-Stack (2018) was inspired by a comment by the flautist, composer, and pedagogue, John “Jack” Fonville in 2011 regarding Jean-Charles François: “He was a fabulous improviser, stacking things upon things, totally original!” This work is dedicated to Jean-Charles, one of the most important composers of percussion music, performer of new music, improviser, and sadly, an underappreciated figure in the field of academic percussion music and pedagogy. <br />
