Following my education at York Minster School I was given many opportunities to experience professional music with my father who worked for Yorkshire TV at the time. I began playing in professional orchestras at 14 moving into national functions work from 21 onwards. Professionally I followed a business route excelling in relationship management at two large British Companies from 1997-2001. In 2001 I began a formal career in the classroom working in primary, secondary and further education. I experienced the birth of wider opportunities, the launch of musical futures etc. In 2007 I began managing a team of teachers working across a local authority teaching music. As a team we developed a number of new approaches that effected engagement and attainment across a large geographical area. I also pioneered the use of Taiko in the classroom in the north of England.
