Program Notes

Ransom is a work for 5 octave marimba by Mark Ford. This work is highly virtuosic in nature and utilizes many advanced marimba techniques. Ransom starts off with a slow moving, mysterious section followed by sections that explore ostinato rhythms and disjunct melodic passages. The piece concludes with a coda sections that briefly revisits most of the major themes of the work.
