Mayumi Sekizawa wrote I Hope... especially to be performed at her 2001 New Year’s Concert. Having to perform on the first day of the 21st Century brought Sekizawa to embrace various thoughts and feelings into this composition. I hope... is comprised of simple harmonic lines to bring out the best of the warmth and richness of the Marimba. We all have the power to strongly believe in dreams and hopes, take them into action and realize them one day. I hope for people to hear this work with wishes in their heart, no matter how small they may be.
