Program Notes
Collide by Jacob Remington is a fast-paced, high-energy work for (extra-large!) percussion orchestra that will keep any group of performers on their toes! Based on the process of hunting down subatomic particles in a Large Hadron Collider, this work for 17 percussionists feels like a nuclear reaction. Fast, swirling runs and a constant forward momentum make for a demanding piece - an ensemble performing this will need to be pretty technically and musically capable. The challenge is musically rewarding, though, as the resulting energy makes for an engaging performance!
