Program Notes
”(…) in a glade in the middle of the woods we [composer and his wife, red.] suddenly saw a small, very old marble stone, fenced by an old rusty iron chain. The stone was half crumbled, but the inscription was still legible – “In memory of the perishable” it said. The words hit us with surprising force and set our thoughts wandering. That we human beings have to die some day is natural, but that also music- the immortal music- the music of Mozart- one day will disappear, is more difficult to become reconciled with. Life – joy – love – the standard repertoire – music –everything will vanish. Then we felt, as a comforting caress, raindrops falling down on our skin, and in the quiet summer-rain we left the woods…” by Anders Koppel
