Overview

Advanced snare drum studies may sound intimidating, but with in the first few pages the author is already giving advice to the performer. He provides guidelines for all of the etudes saying that if the rolls are tied to unrolled notes then they should be played without an accent or a break, or that grace notes should not interfere with the precision of the rhythm. Then he provides guidelines for each etude, tips that are specific to the music, and even shows the performer how to set up for these etudes.

Reviews

"This is a great book to work on after the Portraits in Rhythm book. The difficulty level is somewhere between intermediate to advanced. A beginning percussionist would merely be confused at the first etude and overall frustrated with this book, but for someone looking to improve their snare proficiency, this would be an excellent purchase." - Denver Ridgway
