Ashley Feist is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in music and a minor in creative writing at Emporia State University. She specializes in spoken word poetry, solo marimba, timpani, snare drum, and multi-percussion repertoire, including works of composers Julie Spencer, Askell Masson, Christopher Deane, Eugene Novotney, Tracy Freeze, and William Kraft. During her time at ESU, she has performed with many different ensembles and chamber groups. These include the ESU Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Emporia Symphony Orchestra, and the Emporia Marching Hornets. Feist is also constantly writing, editing, and sending her poetry in to publications. She has been published through Eber and Wein Publishing and the ESU literary magazine, Quivera. In 2014, she was featured in an Open Mic Night hosted by the ESU English Honors Society. Ashley recently performed her senior recital, Time Paradigm, which was a combination of percussion and her own spoken word poetry. Ashley is composing works for multiple percussion pieces and poetry and is perusing publication. Ashley is currently a student of Dr. Tracy Freeze and Dr. Kevin Rabas.
