Description

Inventions on a Motive by Michael Colgrass was inspired by the idea of implementing a motif with development (something common in orchestral music) into percussion, which had not been done at the time. Each of the five inventions has their own character. Individual parts are rhythmically easy to read (as long as you can interpret old-school notation), but players could easily get lost if they don't pay attention.
