From 1964-1992 Dr. Moore was head of percussion studies at The Ohio State University School of Music. His prior faculty positions included Butler University in Indianapolis and the U.S. Armed Forces School of Music in Washington, D.C. He also served as principal percussionist with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (1964-1981), and was percussionist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra for four years in the early sixties.

Dr. Moore served as consultant and clinician for the Musser Division of Ludwig Industries and for the Hal Leonard Publishing Company. He founded "Percussive Notes" magazine, the official publication of the Percussive Arts Society, and served as its editor for 18 years (1962-1980). His summer music camp teaching included the National Music Camp at Interlochen, the International Music Camp at the International Peace Garden in North Dakota/Manitoba, and the OSU Marimba/Vibe Camp which he founded and directed for thirteen years.
