Description

Commissioned by the Aledo High School Percussion Ensemble (Scott Stephens, Director) for performance at the 2024 Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Luna, Luna was inspired by the poem Romance de al luna, luna (“Ballad of the Moon”) by Federico García Lorca. It is a dark poem filled with colorful mystical imagery of youthful innocence, a lunar temptress, and mournful gypsies. The piece is a cousin to my piece The Cry, which is also based on a Lorca poem set in Spain.
