MALOOF, William J. 76, of Belmont, died on Saturday August 22, 2009. Born in Boston, son of the late Samuel and Adele (Corey) Maloof, he lived in Belmont for the past 10 years and had previously been a lifelong resident of Allston. He was a graduate of Boston University and served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a well-known and highly regarded music composer and prior to retirement was a Professor of Music at the Berklee School of Music, where he served as Chairman of Music Composition for many years. His legacy includes an extensive body of musical compositions recognized worldwide. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews[1]
