Description

Alejandro Vinao's Marimba Concerto challenges both the soloist and the orchestra with a piece that is highly energetic, aggressive, and at times jarring. The soloist will be stretched mentally and physically across the keyboard, while the orchestra must be on their top rhythmic game. The piano and timpani parts are often extensions of the marimba part, and may need some extra time with the soloist to make sure everything comes out correctly.
