Ney Rosauro's Marimba Concerto Suite is a refined version of his immensely popular Concerto no. 1 for Marimba, taking all of the popular themes of the original work and condensing it into one five minute marimba solo! Now you don't need an orchestra to back you up. Ney Rosauro calls upon many different techniques for this piece - a moto perpertuo left hand ostinato with the right hand playing a melody over the top, left-handed rolls with the melody on top, quick double lateral strokes to create fast triplets, and moments of sheer chops. This piece is an excellent way for any marimbist to play the highly accessible, yet musically rewarding, music from Ney Rosauro's concerto without having to learn an 18-minute work with piano accompaniment or a full ensemble.
