Description

The entire piece is a palindrome, or a word or idea that can be read the same exact way backwards as it is read regularly. A snowstorm starts with just one snowflake, builds into a powerful blizzard, has its ups and downs throughout, then leaves with a single last snowflake. Bowed vibes in the very beginning express the excitement of snowfall coming. The dynamics of the piece make the gusts and flurries of snowfall audible. Rhythmically similar but melodically different 8th-note mallet runs harmonize beautifully. Players must work together to get through the storm.
