+ | "Argentinian Rhapsody" is a marimba solo with full symphony orchestra. Movement 1 is based on an "Air of Vidala" and Movement 2 is based on an "Air of Misionera." Each movement uses the marimba in a melodic way, usually playing the melody alone or in unison with other instruments. There are a few cadenza-like sections; however, they are not virtuosic but rather subdued, employing a slight embellishment of the melody. Two mallets are used throughout each movement. This is not really a concerto in terms of it being a showpiece for the marimba, but it is a melodic display of the marimba sound accompanied by a symphony orchestra. It is not difficult for the soloist or orchestra. This is a well-composed, pleasant composition with overtones of South American rhythms. - John Beck, April 2003<ref>[http://www.pas.org PAS.ORG]</ref> | ||
