Program Notes

This piece is meant to represent unity through division. Written for the combined percussion ensembles of Boyd County High School (KY) and Marshall University (WV), the piece explores both melodic and rhythmic ideas that are distinctly different, yet clarity and unison is present when combined. In geographic terms, the name is also meant to represent the division of Ashland and Huntington by state border, yet cohesion and unity with the culture of the region.
