Background

The profession of percussion has undergone enormous evolution in recent years, making good training indispensable. Music schools, conservatories and other institutes can meet the demand for percussion training through well-designed study programs, workshops and further training courses. However, the study resources and methodologies are scarce.

Henk Mennens affinity with percussion music arose from the age of 6. Coming from the drum band and HAFA world, Henk Mennens ended up in classical music. Later his interests also went out to pop and jazz music. In all those years Henk Mennens have not come across a method that meets a gradual study program, for beginning to advanced percussionists. During and after studuing at the conservatory in Tilburj and Maastricht, Henk Mennens taught at various music schools in the Netherlands and Germany. The methods used consisted of numerous books, from which only a few elements were usable. From this perspective, Henk Mennens came up with the idea of writing a method by himself.

The plan: a full band method for percussionists in the broadest sense of the word. In order to achieve optimal results, Henk Mennens have decided to continually send my plans to percussion authorities in various areas for assessment. That is why I would like to use this 'accountability' to thank Leo Pustjens, Eg Leemhuis, Charles van Zanten and everyone who contributed to the development of this method for their efforts and motivation.
