Performance Notes

Right off the bat, this arrangement will introduce your mallet players to dead sticking (striking the bar and holding the mallet against it vs. a normal stroke). The dead sticking is incorporated to emmulate a strumming acoustic guitar player muting some of his/her strokes. It’s really a cool effect on the mallet instruments. At Letter C there’s a timbale solo, and this section can be opened up if you’d like to add a drum set solo as well. At Letter D, the phrase markings in the Xylophone and Marimba 1 parts are very important. These phrases should be very smooth and sustained like a voice.
