Program Notes

Kvart I Fyra by Anders Astrand is a very large scale work for percussion ensemble. The instrumentation is divided into four different choirs - steel drums, metal keyboard instruments, wooden keyboard instruments, and battery percussion. With a tempo marking of "Groovy", it is more than obvious that this piece is meant to be thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. This is definitely not a simple work however, to handle the intensity and variety that the piece presents requires numerous very talented and experienced performers. Best programmed for a collegiate ensemble, Kvart I Fyra is an excellent concert piece that will blow the audience's mind.
