Howden is an Adjunct Professor of Music at St. Bonaventure University in upstate New York and an attorney with his own practice. With degrees in music from Ithaca College and the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, his percussion teachers include Leigh Howard Stevens, Gordon Stout, Ruth Cahn, John Beck, William Youhas, James Culley, Eugene Espina, Roland Koloff. He was a former private composition student of Pulitzer Prize Winner, Karel Husa.

As a professional musician Howden performed as principal timpanist with the Albany (NY) Symphony, principal percussionist with the Lake George Opera Company, and percussionist with the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra. Moses performed as percussionist with notable groups such as the "Fifth Dimension' and "Ice Capades". He has also played as a freelance drum set and percussion player with various off-Broadway shows in NYC.

When his demanding schedule allows, Mark enjoys horseback riding, karate, hiking, and camping in the rugged Adirondack Mountains of northern New York.[1]
