Description
Written for the UT Austin Percussion Ensemble, Pajarito is scored for eight players who play on two marimbas, vibraphone, congas, cajon, and shaker. This music was made to make people dance, sing, and to connect with the sounds of my roots. One of my favorite artists is Natalia Lafourcade. From Vera Cruz, Mexico, her career started off in the indie rock / pop world, and has recently expanded to include folkloric music from her home country. I’ve experienced a similar journey in my own writing throughout the years, expanding my own sound world to include these elements. But I’ve never quite embraced it fully until “Pajarito”. I’m proud of this one and hope it connects with you.
